Project:
Detroit People Mover 20th Anniversary Poster Contest. I won 1st place and $1,000.
Explanation:
We pretty much had carte blanche for this contest. My goal was to make something that would appeal to a wide demographic. I had the track going into the foreground and beyond the edge to show perpetuity thus conveying the idea that this mode of transportation for downtown Detroit will forge on well into the future. |

Project:
Poster and postcard for an Andy Warhol Retrospective.
Explanation:
Warhol was a mysterious, multifaceted individual. I used only sections of his headshot to further accentuate his enigmatic persona. For the title of the exhibit I chose bright colors that were synonymous with some of his most famous works. |

Project:
Gatefold brochure for the Tiny Tots exhibit at the Detroit Science Center.
Explanation:
I wanted to keep it kid friendly, so I juxtaposed the massive amounts of text with a caricature I made. I color coded the different parts of the exhibit with bright colors that coincide with the map of the building. There is a diecut on the front highlighting the Tiny Tots package.

package layout |
Project:
Package redesign.
Explanation:
The original box had really bright greens and a very generic look to it. I toned down the loud greens and used a calmer hue. The botanical illustration conveys the naturalness of the product, which the original design seemed to be missing. |

front (map of site) |

back (directions to site) |
Project:
Redesign site maps for the Huron River Watershed Council.
Explanation:
A group of us had to redesign maps of sites that the HRWC volunteers collect specimens from. The front of the map is the map of the site and the back is the directions from the HRWC building in Ann Arbor to the site. The new color maps, laminated for protection against the elements, helped the volunteers immensely. Not only were the sites easier to get to but once at the site there was less confusion as to where to collect from. |

Project:
Two-page magazine layout.
Explanation:
For this project we had to choose a celebrity and design a two-page spread. I chose Fergie and an article on her hiatus from the Black Eyed Peas. I chose the hot pink color to go along with the young feminine vibe she exudes and to coincide with the urban 80's feel of the accompanying photo. The font in the title plays off the urban attitude as well. |

cover |

page with poem |
Project:
Twenty-two page book of poems and evocative images.
Explanation:
The moods transitioned within the poems as well as from poem to poem. I took the concept of transitioning and conveyed it through playing with gradations in color as well as transitions in moods conveyed through the successive images I used.
